To honor and teach Dr. King's message and Black history, we must honor Black businesses
My yearlong stand/ study to buy all our goods and services from Black owned businesses, called The Empowerment Experiment, was based on King's call for action and unity against economic injustice, his commitment to Black owned businesses, and his unyielding faith in and fight for the American Dream. That year was difficult, and making this message of economic empowerment my life has been daunting...but I do however, respect and cherish the honor and authority to educate, enlighten and inspire I earned in this journey. See the hundreds of organizations that had me keynote MLK or Black History Month events!

Black firms and banks used to be plentiful, successful, resulting in safe, strong neighborhoods, funding the Civil Rights Movement. We can do more to support them now. Substantive business diversity. Conscious consumerism/buying Black. Honoring Black History and Dr. King's economic justice legacy.
